Flight Attendant. Lady Pilot. Baker. The story of Marie Rose Ison Maximo is truly inspiring.😊
Although she’s not the first pilot we’ve featured, she’s the first mom pilot here on EatMyBananas. We’re so proud. 🥰
We reached out to Flying Baker PH because of her famous Salted Egg Buns.
In return, we got to know the inspiring story behind Flying Baker PH. 🥰
The Salted Egg Buns of Flying Baker PH are everywhere. They have traveled from Manila to other parts of the world.
The feedback is very positive. Although it took a couple of weeks for us to finally connect with Flying Baker PH, it was all worth it.
A Former Flight Attendant
Back in 1994, Marie entered the airline industry as a flight attendant. During those days, there weren’t a lot of local airlines. There were a couple but most flight attendant wannabes had their eye on Philippine Airlines (PAL). The competition was stiff.
Marie flew for a couple of years as a flight attendant. Then in 2012, she wanted to soar higher and she did.

She enrolled in PAL Aviation School and joined AO Class 2012 Charlie. She was the only female in the class.

Then in May 2015, she joined the Airbus Widebody Flight Operations Department of Philippine Airlines.
Just recently, she was part of the first-ever all-female flight deck crew of PR 8655. This was a repatriation flight that brought home OFWs from Riyadh.

Not Just A Pilot But A Baker As Well
Once Captain Marie lands and comes home, she sets aside her wings and puts on her apron to bake her famous Salted Egg Buns.
The airline industry is one of the many industries affected by the pandemic. Nonetheless, that did not stop Captain Marie from soaring to new heights.
According to her:
“Flying Baker PH was born last May 2020, during the pandemic and work restrictions.”
Preparing food for her loved ones kept her very busy. Since she loves soft bread, she decided to get into baking it. She had never done so before but she went for it.
“I started with the ube cheese pandesal for everyone to try because it was the trend that time. I also tried baking carrot cake because it’s our favorite cake. I also bake cheese rolls and ube cheese roll for family and friends and that was the time they told me that I can do it for a living during this pandemic.
She adds:
The best-seller among my products is Salted Egg Buns and it is not an original concept of mine. But since I love eating, I was able to come up with my own version of the bread that I used to buy. Now, Flying baker PH produces different variant of bread and continues to innovate for our customers
With an initial capital of ₱ 5,000, Flying Baker PH was able to take off and soar. She bakes 2 to 3 days a week depending on her flight load.
Captain Marie wears many hats. She’s a pilot … a baker … but most importantly, a loving mom to her 16-year old son. ❤️
