Street food has evolved over the years. It’s no longer what we think it is. Sure, it’s still street food but it has definitely leveled up. Gone are the days when street food was dominated by ‘manong’ and “manang.” 😀 Nonetheless, we give them credit for pioneering the street food scene that we know now.

The Street Food Craze

Nowadays, everybody is jumping into the street food craze. Why not? Street food rocks!

If there’s one thing we can proud of, it’s our local street food. Our street food is so good that a pretty flight attendant has ventured into selling it. 😀

Meet Pretty Flight Attendant Leigh Nazaredo

Leigh Nazaredo is a 26-year-old PAL Flight Attendant

It was late at night and I was watching tv. I ended up on a local channel that was featuring a flight attendant who got retrenched. As an ex-flight attendant who also got retrenched 23 years ago ( I was part of the 1997 PAL retrenchment due to the pilot strike), I got curious about the flight attendant on tv.

She was telling the story of how her dream to become a flight attendant came true only to be cut short because of the pandemic.

Her story sounded very familiar to me but what got me was when she started crying on tv.

She was describing the moment when she was informed about the retrenchment.

She just couldn’t help but cry because the first thing that entered her mind was her family. As a breadwinner, she has very worried about them.

At that point, I thought to myself how lucky her parents were for having a daughter like her. ❤️

After the tv show ended, I tried to look her up but to no avail.

The next morning, I totally forgot about the show and just went about my usual work. (laundry, dishes, cooking 😀)

Then I got a message from a retired flight purser from CX (Michelle Sison). She sent me a message and a screenshot of the flight attendant. The message went, “Psst! Feature her! If only I know where she sells, suki ako!”

Suddenly I remembered what I watched the night before. I told her about it but also told her that I couldn’t find her (Only to find out I was searching for the wrong name 🤣)

Cut the long story short, FP Michelle came to the rescue and gave me all the information I needed to get in touch with Leigh Nazaredo. And I did! 😀

Ladies and gentlemen, I want to introduce to you a very inspiring and pretty young lady who has all the right to wear that PAL uniform. Meet Leigh Nazaredo. She’s the kind of flight attendant young girls can look up to and ex-cabin crew (like me) can be proud of!

Food Service On Ground

Flight attendants are trained rigorously and for the most part, they’re trained for safety and survival. (For obvious reasons 😀)

Their customer service training is built on the foundation of foodservice. Hence, food service from a flight attendant is, most of the time, an awesome experience.

Fully trained to deliver an awesome food service experience, Leigh set up her street food stand in her home.

Serving yummy treats such as tokneneng and kwek kwek, Leigh did not let the retrenchment affect her. She’s still flying high with her street food stand.

Leigh was just focused to help her family. Who would have known it would go beyond that? Nowadays, she’s inspiring a lot of folks.

  1. A lot of airline people are affected and it’s sad. But what’s nice is seeing people like Leigh move forward. She’s an inspiration no doubt.
