10 Recommended Food Items For Chef Ida’s Food Assistance Initiative

šŸ¤— EatMyBananas.com Is One Of The Top 50 Filipino Food Websites To Follow In 2023 On Feedspot.com šŸ˜

There are five main food groups. According to 1.health.gov.au, the 5 basic food groups are listed below:

  1. Carbohydrates (bread, rice, potatoes, grains, and noodles)
  2. Legumes and Veggies
  3. Fruits
  4. Protein
  5. Dairy and/or alternatives

Kids need all the nutrients they can get. It’s hard enough to feed a kid on a daily basis, it’s even harder on a food assistance initiative that’s rolled out just twice a week.

Nothing stops Chef Ida from cooking for kids.❤️

How To Help

There lots of ways to help Chef Ida. You don’t have to go out and volunteer if you’re feeling uncomfortable with the current situation. That’s understandable.

You also don’t need to spend a lot to be able to share. Anything that you can share with the kids is going to be appreciated. ❤️❤️❤️

The list below will give you a good idea as to what you can share with the communities Chef Ida works with.

MilkĀ

For the dairy food group, you can consider sharing some milk products. Here’s the thing with milk … it’s not encouraged to donate milk products because of the breastfeeding law.

The milk product that’s most welcome is one that can be used for cooking. A good example would be a can of Alaska milk that Chef Ida can use to make some creamy soups for the kids.

Bread

Bread belongs to the starchy food group. There are lots of bread brands. There’s Gardenia and Pinoy Tasty by Marby.

Since my son loves Pinoy Tasty, I’m sharing a photo of it with you guys.

Pinoy Tasty is available in your suking tindahan. 😀

Noodles

You can also consider sharing some pasta noodles. Chef Ida can whip up some delectable spaghetti for the kids.

Kids love spaghetti. 👍

Vegetables

Gulay is life. Kids need veggies. The good news is that cabbage or reployo is in season. It’s very affordable. Some markets sell it per piece.

Cabbage is so affordable these days that we eat it every day at home. 😀

Rice

Rice belongs to the starchy food group. Needless to say, this is a staple food for us Filipinos. There’s no doubt that the kids need rice. ❤️ Rice can be cooked in so many ways. 😀

Eggs

Kids need some protein and they can get a good amount of it from eggs.

Fresh eggs will go far in Chef Ida’s Food Assistance Initiative.

Meats (Ground Pork, Chicken, Or Beef)

Kids need some meats as well. Meats are protein-packed as well.

So, fresh chicken or any meats for protein would be appreciated.

Feel free to click here to see our directory of meat suppliers.

Tofu

There are times when Chef Ida goes to areas where the kids don’t eat meats (for religious reasons). Tofu would be a great alternative. 👍👍👍

Cooking Oil

Chef Ida needs all the cooking oil that she can get.

BiscuitsĀ

I know biscuits don’t belong to any of the five major food groups but come on, these are kids! They would love some biscuits. The Jack n Jill Dewberry Strawberries and Cream will surely make the kids happy. 👍😀

Kids love this!
