Sinigang na baboy is probably the most popular variety of this local dish.

Its starring ingredient is baboy or pork. Aside from baboy or pork, it’s also loaded with a ton of vegetables.

Sinigang Na Hipon

Sinigang is so versatile that it also comes in another version where the starring ingredients are shrimps. So. if you’re not much into eating pork, sinigang na hipon (shrimps) is the version that you can consider.

It still has that unique sour taste but you’ll enjoy it with some shrimps instead.

Other ingredients for this particular version of sinigang are miso (to add more tart) and mustasa or mustard leaves.

Sinigang Na Bangus

Another version of sinigang is sinigang na bangus or milkfish.

Bangus is best served deboned. This particular fish has a lot of bones and it can get pretty tricky to eat.

Yes, we use salmon heads for a couple of reasons. One practical reason is that it’s cheap. 😄

But more than that, it’s very nutritious. Fish heads are loaded with vitamins and nutrients. (1)

First thing’s first. Wash the fish heads. 😀

Then sauté the fish head in garlic, onions, tomatoes, and ginger.

Add some water.

Get a strainer to add in the miso. Use the water you’ve just added to the sauteed fish to strain the miso.

Add in the Knorr Sinigang mix.

Add in the mustasa or mustard leaves.

Let it boil. Season with fish sauce and pepper. 😄

Then enjoy.
