Tablea from cacao has a very distinct taste. It does not have the same texture as other kinds of chocolate. The reason for that is because it’s still pretty much pure cacao. Hence, the taste could be somewhat bitter.
Despite the bitter taste, it does have a lot of health benefits. Read Related: Champorado Isn’t Your Ordinary Porridge

Since it has a bitter taste, there’s a tendency to add a lot of sugar. You all know what too much sugar can do to your body, right?
My Version Of A Hot Chocolate Drink From Tablea
Hot chocolate in our home is always made from tablea. We never bother buying hot chocolate powder because we like it better from tablea.
We can cook it until it’s rich and creamy. The only problem there is the taste. It could be pretty bitter. It’s for that reason that condensed milk and even Milo are added to make it a lot sweeter.
I wanted to do without the condensed milk and the Milo and I did.😄
Here’s my version of a hot chocolate drink from tablea that tastes just right. 😃
My ingredients include tablea, cream, and muscovado sugar.
The first thing to do is to melt the tablea. Since the tablea we have at home is one huge block, we just chopped some pieces to boil. While it’s melting, add in some muscovado sugar.
Muscovado is a lot healthier than white sugar and condensed milk. You’ll find that it blends pretty well with the flavor of the tablea. 👍
It’s up to you as to how much tablea you want to melt. You can gauge it yourself.
While you’re waiting for the tablea to melt, pour some cream into a bowl and whisk it until it becomes thick.
Now you can put together the melted tablea and the cream. I used a mason jar for my hot chocolate drink.
Cacao Beans From Bohol Make The Best Tablea
Bohol is one of the places where cacao beans are grown. Although Davao, Batanagas, and Cebu are the top producers of cacao beans, the ones from Bohol cannot be ignored.
We have been getting our supply of tablea from Bohol and we’re pretty happy with it.
For starters, the tablea from Bohol lasts pretty long. Our huge block of tablea is pretty hard to finish. To this day, it still tastes pretty good.
Thanks to the quality of cacao beans grown in Bohol, the tablea holds up for a long, long time.
